Control Manual

For Metal & Nonmetal Mines

Did you hear the one about the frustrated safety director that finely got it all together, but now he can't remember where he put it?

Well, it's really not that far fetched, and it isn't very funny when it happens to you.

But it doesn't have to happen to you any more. The Control Manual, with its new cross-referencing system, will help you quickly locate the information that you are looking for--thus saving you time, money and frustration.

Unlike other regulation handbooks that are called "compliance manuals," the Control Manual helps you do more than "comply" with regulations--it helps you take control of your health and safety program.

The Control Manual does this by:

  • Helping you know the regulations and how MSHA interprets them.

--This helps you avoid citations by correcting them in advance,

--And helps you avoid receiving "non-violation" citations (citations issued when no violation actually exists).

  • Helping you know your rights under the Act.

--This helps you avoid being shut down by closure orders,

--And helps you lower you penalties through conferences.

  • Helping you set up and monitor you own safety and training programs.

--This helps you prevent costly accidents,

--And helps you develop more efficient employees.

The results will be:

  • Better relations with MSHA inspectors,

  • Less "shutdown" time during inspections,

  • Fewer and small penalties, and

  • Fewer accidents, lower insurance rates, and better employee relations.
